John Dickinson

Brief Biography:
Born in 1920 in Berkeley, Dickinson went to Parsons School of Design in New York. Upon his return to San Francisco in 1956, he launched his interior business and became one of the top decorators during the 1960s and 70s. Dickinson was known for his originality in his signature plaster and galvanized steel furniture design that combines functionality with a whimsical, surrealistic and primitive charm. His design appears modern or even playful, but it is rooted in his understanding of historical and classic furniture design as well as various tribal forms rnSince his passing in 1982, Dickinson's designs have seen a surging interest among the decorators and collectors alike.
